How to recover SampleTank 2 SE after formatting.
Article
Formatting a V-Machine completely erases the internal flash memory. All Banks, Presets, and Plug-ins are deleted.
To re-load your desired Banks, Presets, and Plug-ins you can use the following steps which are explained in more detail below.
Install sampletank 2 SE
Import sampletank 2 SE into the vfx software, explained here
http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=15
Use the "Export Machine" feature to copy the banks and plugins onto a USB memory stick
Import the banks and plugins from the USB stick onto the internal drive.
For V-Machines with firmware prior to
V1.120090130 p
lease update the firmware before attempting to follow these steps.
Delete the "IK SampleTank 2 SE" folder from your computer (under XP this is C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\vfx\vmachine\plugs\IK SampleTank 2 SE)
Ensure you have installed the SampleTank 2 SE plug-in on your PC using the included CD. Be sure to choose the default locations during the installation process as this will make the process much smoother.
Manually copy the instruments from the CD into the correct location.
Import the "SampleTank2 SE.dll" plug-in to the VFX Application. This is done by following the steps here.
http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=15
Insert a blank USB memory stick of 1GB or more
Right hand click on the orange power button in the VFX software and Select 'MACHINE' then "Export Machine" from the main drop down menu. Use the browser to select the mounted USB memory stick and click OK. All Banks, Presets, and Plug-ins will be saved to the USB memory stick on confirmation. Remove the USB memory stick from the computer.
Power on the V-Machine, and connect your USB memory stick.
If you get a timeout message, power on the V-Machine fully before connecting the USB stick.
The V-Machine will recognize the contents of the memory stick and allow you to browse and play the Presets. You will notice that all Banks played from the USB stick will display the Bank name surrounded by brackets "[Bank name]".
To transfer the currently selected Bank from the USB memory stick to the V-Machine's internal flash memory - enter the MENU function and browse to the "Import" function. Select Confirm to import the current Bank to the V-Machine's internal flash memory.
Importing a Bank will also copy the plugin across at the same time.
You should now have SampleTank 2 SE working directly from the Internal flash.
Special Note: If your computer has had a version of SampleTank2 SE (as may have shipped with other products etc) previously installed on your computer, it is recommended to un-install before re-installing SampleTank2 SE from the included CD. It is important you choose the default directory paths during installation.
